Est. 2005

Simpatica was born out of our butcher counter in City Market NW in January 2005. We quickly realized that we would need more space to accommodate our burgeoning catering company. So in June 2005, we moved into the Pine Street Studios building—formerly the home to a church, Portland's Gay Liberation Front, Pine Street Theater and La Luna. We made the space our own, alongside the small teen punk-rock club next door. (It could be loud.) They moved on. We haven't.

Simpatica Dining Hall has seen it all. "Meal of the Year" in USA TODAY. "Top 10 Hottest Restaurants" in Bon Appetit. We started Portland's brunch craze here, and were named one of the country's best by Food & Wine magazine. We take great pride in those accomplishments and in the many celebrated chefs who have called Simpatica home through the years.

Private dining is what we do now and we do it well. While we have cleaned up and grown up here at Simpatica, we still have the same energy and passion for food. We are available to host you for brunch, lunch, or dinner, 7 days a week.

We are also proud owners of Laurelhurst Market, Ate-oh-Ate, Reverend's BBQ, and Big's Chicken. If you know our restaurants, you know our commitment to quality, flavor and friendly service. Simpatica is where it all started and that still shows today.

Testimonials

Jamie and the whole crew from Simpatica were a dream to work with from start to finish! From initial negotiations on the contract, all the way through the event, the communication was clear, constant and there was always a true sense of partnership. Jamie was invested in making sure we had a great event and raised as much money for the community as possible, and with Simpatica by our side we hit record numbers! The food was delicious, the staff polite, courteous and accommodating to our guests. I cannot say enough positive about Jamie, and everyone else at Simpatica Catering. They definitely have our business again! — Megan Jolly,  Friendly House, Inc.

The Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA) has been working with Simpatica Catering since 2006.  Simpatica caters PICA's biggest fundraiser of the year with a family style dinner for over 300 people, wine service, coffee, and dessert.  Simpatica also caters the smaller events with appetizers and small bites.  Big or small, Simpatica always does a fantastic job. The food is always fresh and delicious, the service is great, and the attention to detail is always appreciated.  The staff are also particularly kind and generous with their time in helping to plan the menu and the run of show.  No matter what size the budget, Simpatica will work with you to create a wonderful food experience. — Jessica Burton PICA

Simpatica is Domaine Serene’s preferred caterer for member events.  We know that the menu will be wine friendly, seasonally inspired local cuisine. Simpatica staff is great to work with from planning through execution, I always know the event will come off without a hitch and the guests will leave happy and full! — Nicole Pattalochi Domaine Serene
